"The Color of Our Tears"

Supporting Black Youth Through Grief

COVID-19, high levels of community violence, and other systemic issues have led to Black youth dealing with high rates of traumatic grief. A protective factor for many Black youths and their families is religion as a source of support. The clinical group will explore the impact of religion in helping Black youth heal from grief, along with some fun strategies clinicians can use in their clinical work to support Black youth through the five stages of grief.

Clinical Consultation Groups from BMH Connect™

BMH Connect™ These groups are for mental health professionals of all levels, including students. Each group is held once a month, and attendees are provided with 2 hours of clinical support on the identified topic. These groups are not trainings and will not count as continuing education. Instead, these clinical consultation groups serve to provide a safe place for clinicians to support each other in navigating difficult issues while working with Black youth. This group will include small group discussion, prep work in the form of articles or documentaries to watch prior to the session, and clinical support for specialized issues in clinical work with Black youth.
